Arizona Gets Its First Veterinary Teaching Hospital

The quality of animal care offered in Greater Phoenix just took a giant step forward this past December with the opening of Midwestern University’s new state-of-the-art Companion Animal Care Clinic. With a mission to “improve animal and human life through innovative veterinary education,” the University aims to work with local veterinarians, healthcare providers and scientists to provide the best possible animal care to pets and their owners.The 111,800-square-foot teaching clinic is the first of its kind in the state, providing students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree program the opportunity to learn and serve the local community. The clinic offers affordable high-quality primary and specialty care for small animals, including preventive medicine/wellness, dental care, surgery, diagnostic imaging, senior pet care, and other specialties. Intakes and initial pet care appointments are managed by the clinic’s experienced veterinary faculty.
